We’re being bombarded with 24/7 news updates on the BP oil spill in the gulf. The government/BP finger pointing blame game, the interviews with individuals in the tourist and fishing industries, “the largest environmental disaster in US history”- I’ve tuned into all of this over the past 50 days and nothing has brought me to tears quite like these images in the NY Times Article. After looking through those, I was ready to pull on my rubber gloves, grab my Dawn dish soap and head down to Louisiana.
As an alternative to heading down south, I want to involve my clients and participate in the Adopt-a-Bird program which helps to clean up and rehabilitate seabirds affected by the spill. $200 can adopt one pelican, but I think in the next week, we can do more than that- Call the studio by the 14th to schedule your session and all of the session fees collected will go to the IBRRC Adopt-a-bird program. Once the adoption papers are submitted, I’ll keep you updated with the band numbers assigned to each bird and the date and place of release. You don’t need to travel thousands of miles with a bottle of Dawn to make a difference!
